The Delaware Academy for School Leadership (DASL) improves public education by developing and supporting educational leadership throughout all levels of their careers by providing powerful, research-based professional learning programs, differentiated coaching services and advocating for best practices and polices.
DASL is the provider of mandatory training for all new administrators to become credentialed for use of DPAS II for Principals, Assistant Principals and District Leaders. The training covers DPAS II policy and processes, effective goal setting, evidence collection and giving actionable feedback.
The goal of the Executive Leadership Academy (ELA) is to prepare educators to successfully lead Delaware school districts and charter schools. Participants are provided a rigorous curriculum led by experienced facilitators, and they will engage in dialogue with education leaders and receive mentoring from Delaware superintendents.
The University of Delaware’s Principal Preparation Program (PPP) is designed for PK–12 educators currently holding a Masters degree who aspire to school leadership positions of principal and assistant principal in public school districts and charter schools.
DALS hosts the Annual Policy & Practice Institute: Delaware’s Conference on Public Education, held each June in collaboration with the Delaware Association of School Administrators. This event is for educators, school leaders, university faculty and students.
This PLN features a statewide book club, facilitated via Flipgrid. This online platform is geared toward educators who are interested in a space where they can share, discuss and learn more about critical topics in education. Participants will record videos to discuss topics within a posting window when it suits their schedules. This PLN is based on guiding principles about effective self-directed professional development, aligned to the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders.
Studies on school leadership suggest that students with disabilities attending schools that provide leadership for special education programs & services are more likely to progress in the general education curriculum and have enhanced outcomes. This PLN is based on guiding principles about effective leaders of special education programs, aligned to the Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (2015).
DASL hosts the Leadership Learning Series, featuring free networking and learning events for educational leaders.
The Women’s Leadership Conference Delaware is a networking and learning event for leaders in K–12 and higher education settings. This is an opportunity for women in educational leadership to find support and growth on their professional journeys, as well as for all individuals to reflect on and address the challenges to be overcome for the advancement of women in leadership roles.
