DASL Executive Leadership Academy

Cohort V Announcement

 

The Delaware Academy for School Leadership (DASL) invites interested superintendents, heads of school, district level administrators, principals and assistant principals to participate in the fifth cohort of the DASL Executive Leadership Academy.

 

The goal of the DASL Executive Leadership Academy is to prepare outstanding school educators to successfully lead school districts and charter schools.

 

Participants attend relevant sessions for school leaders on important topics such as:

·       District Strategic Planning ·       Legal, HR and Ethical Issues
·       Instructional Leadership ·       School Board Governance
·       Collective Bargaining ·       School Construction
·       Bond Bill ·       Referendum Planning
·       School Finance ·       Communications
·       Equity ·       Political Issues

Participants are assigned a mentor, receive an onsite work visit, complete a comprehensive leadership profile and have the opportunity for a videotaped mock interview. Participants meet with experts in the field and benefit from the collective wisdom of the group and Academy facilitators. Participants become part of the Academy Network and meet with previous cohort members during network learning lunches.

 

Academy Faculty and Presenters

  • Former and Retired Superintendents
  • Distinguished Delaware school and district leaders and current school superintendents
  • Recognized experts in the field of government, law, and education

 

2018 Program Dates

(Minimum 45 Professional Development Hours)

All full-day sessions held at the Capital School District Board Conference Room

 

Session 1 – Thursday, July 19, 2018, Dinner Kick-Off, 6 PM – 9 PM at Fraziers Restaurant, Dover

Session 2 – Monday, July 23, 8:30 – 4:00

Session 3 – Tuesday, October 2, 8:30 – 4:00

Session 4 – Tuesday, October 23 – 8:30 – 4:00

Session 5 – Thursday, November 15- 8:30- 4:00

Session 6 – Thursday, December 6 – 8:30 – 4:00

 

Registration Fee: $575 includes the cost for meals, books, leadership profile assessment and related materials.

To apply for the ELA:

  • Send a current resume, upon receipt of resume applicants will be sent Registration Fee Information and an Approval to Participate Form to be signed by your superintendent or head of school.
