Letter from the Director

We have made it through a very cold winter with school delays, closings, and the rescheduling of training sessions and meetings due to cancellations. Finally, spring has arrived and with it comes the anticipation of longer and warmer days. It is also a busy time in schools and at DASL. During this time of the year we are finalizing work with districts and schools and planning for summer training requests. We enjoy working with you and look forward to seeing you on June 24th at the 13th Annual Policy and Practice Institute. I hope you have a productive spring and great end of the school year.

2015 Policy and Practice Institute: Delaware’s Conference on Public Education

The Delaware Academy for School Leadership and the Delaware Association of School Administrators announce the 13th Annual Policy and Practice Institute on Wednesday, June 24, 2015.  The conference will be held at Dover High School in Dover, Delaware and will feature Pedro Noguera as the keynote speaker.

Preparing Principals for Delaware Schools

Delaware Academy for School Leadership will be offering a Course of Study in School Leadership this summer pending approval by the State Board of Education and the Secretary of Education. The purpose of the program is to provide an alternative route to assistant principal/principal certification for Delaware educators. At this time there are limited pathways to the principalship in Delaware. The University of Delaware Principal Preparation Program (UDEL PPP) fills that void.

A Lifelong Learner at Leasure Elementary

As a professional development, research and policy center working to improve public education by developing leaders, the Delaware Academy for School Leadership (DASL) celebrates successful school leaders from across the state.  DASL recently had the opportunity to talk to one such leader, Dr. Deirdra Aikens, principal at Leasure Elementary School in the Christina School District.
