Jim Hudson has 30 years of experience in public education in the State of Delaware. He was an teacher at Georgetown Elementary School for 15 years. He started his administrative experience as an assistant principal at the newly-opened North Georgetown Elementary in 1996. Jim became principal of the school in 2000 and served in that capacity until his retirement in 2009.
During his time as North Georgetown’s principal, the school was rated Superior by the State of Delaware from 2003 through 2009. In 2006, North Georgetown was named a National Blue Ribbon School. In 2009, it was honored as a National Title One School.
Since retiring, Jim has continued his involvement with the Indian River School District by serving as a small-group math tutor for ELL students at North Georgetown Elementary and by filling in as an acting principal for six months at John M. Clayton Elementary. He has worked part-time for DASL in the Developmental Assessment Center for School Leaders program and in the Mentoring Program for New Administrators. Jim’s area of expertise is Learning Focused Schools with an emphasis on professional learning communities.
