John Kreitzer has worked as a teacher and administrator in middle school, special school, high school, and adult education settings, as well as district office. In Delaware, he has worked with the Cape Henlopen, Capital, and Sussex Technical school districts. He has taught undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral classes at Wilmington University and Delaware State University.
As a high school principal, John saw Cape Henlopen High School receive the one of the first Superstars in Education award. He also implemented a shared governance model at the school, empowering teachers to play an active role in decision-making. He has used a collaborative approach to problem solving throughout his administrative career. At the district level, John facilitated an extensive professional develop initiative focused on helping teachers and principals understand new state standards, accountability assessments, date analysis, and curriculum mapping. In In addition to his work as a local school leader, John has been involved with and chaired statewide committees, task forces, and advisory teams. The work of these groups involved teacher certification, standards-based performance indicators, assessment benchmarking, vendor selection for statewide assessments, and assistive technology. He has served on leadership teams for special education, curriculum, and adult education.

John has been a presenter at numerous state and national conferences and conventions. Most notable have been the National Staff Development Council conference, the summer institute of CASAS (Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System), and many forums and conferences sponsored by the Delaware Department of Education. Topics have included using data to improve student achievement, effective use of assessment data, understanding diversity, assessment strategies, and development of an effective workforce. His extensive work in adult assessment and workforce development has led to John currently being the Delaware state-level trainer for CASAS.

John continues to be interested and involved in development of effective supervisors and school leaders, helping them determine and apply practical applications of policy and theoretical foundations.
