DPAS II Advanced Training Modules
DPAS II Advanced Training Modules
DASL’s DPAS II Advanced Training Modules build on the state-provided credentialing
program. These modules allow administrators to dig deeper into DPAS II, focusing on skills
related to goal setting, conferencing, and developing Individual Improvement Plans.
These training sessions help administrators advance their use of Delaware’s evaluation system
to drive improvement in instruction.
Framework and Rubrics (6 hours)
Part 1: Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of Charlotte Danielson's Framework for Teaching and its associated rubrics, and discuss the appropriate use of these rubrics in the DPAS II process.
Part 2: Participants will practice using the Danielson rubrics in observing videotaped classroom instruction. They will compare and discuss observations with peers and move towards inter-rater reliability.
Honing your Conferencing Skills (6 hours)
Part 1: Conferencing during the evaluation process is an essential part of DPAS II. Learn
techniques for holding pre- and post-conferences, tips on how to say what you mean and
mean what you say, and practice your conferencing skills in simulated situations.
Part 2: This workshop includes tips and strategies on structuring a pre-conference, ending
a post conference, and encouraging challenging staff members to improve.

Developing Individual Improvement Plans (3 hours)
Sometimes it becomes necessary to rate an individual as unsatisfactory, needs
improvement or ineffective. Learn strategies for developing an Individual Improvement
Plan and practice the development and implementation of a plan, including the follow-up
monitoring and evaluation of the plan.
Setting Meaningful Goals (3 hours)
DPAS II requires all educators to set meaningful goals related to the improvement of
student learning. While these goals are personal ones, there is still a relationship between
the personal goals and grade, department, school, and/or district goals. This professional
development opportunity offers a more in-depth look at ways to set meaningful goals,
collect effective evidence and artifacts to show progress towards meeting the goals, and
discuss goal progress in a conference setting.
