Session I: Leadership Styles and Administrative Responsibilities

Goal: Participants will learn about the various Leadership Styles and how specific styles will be supportive of achieving their administrative goals.

Session II: 21 Leadership Behaviors

Goal:  Participants will learn how the 21 leadership behaviors apply to an instructional leader and building manager.

ISLLC Standards: All 6


Session III: Administrative Services (nutrition, transportation, facilities, budget & finance)

Goal: Participants will explore the operational services available in the district and efficient ways to access them within their district.

ISLLC Standards: 1, 3


Session IV (1): Management vs. Instruction

Goal: Participants will acquire an awareness of how to best manage their time in order to maintain a focus on student achievement.

ISLLC Standards: 1, 2, 3, 4


Session IV (2): Management vs.  Instruction

Goal:  Participants will acquire skills necessary to promote and maintain a culture of continuous student achievement.

ISLLC Standards: 1, 2, 3, 4


Session V: Communication

Goal: Participants will learn how to effectively use various forms of communication to support a positive climate in the total school community.

ISLLC Standards: 4


Session VI: Legal Issues

Goal: Participants will learn about legal compliances that impact various parts of the school/district continuously.

ISLLC Standards: 2, 3, 5, 6 (Related to Special Education)


Session VII: Governance, Policy and Protocol

Goal: Participants will examine the differences between governance, policy, and protocol and discern how their role is impacted by each.

ISLLC Standards: 4, 6


Session VIII: Resume Writing & Interviews

Goal: Participants will learn what makes an effective resume.  Participants will learn how to best respond in an interview.

ISLLC Standards: N/A


Session IX: Leadership Assessment

Goal: Participants will participate in leadership assessment and communicate their next steps in developing his/her leadership capacity.
