Delaware Academy for School Leadership
The Delaware Academy for School Leadership (DASL) is proud to announce the appointment of DASL Director, Dr. Jacquelyn Wilson, as Executive Director of the National Policy Board for Educational Administration (NPBEA), effective April 15, 2018.
Dr. Wilson, a longtime leader in the field of educational leadership, is currently Director of the Delaware Academy for School Leadership at the University of Delaware’s College of Education and Human Development. She will retain her post at the University while assuming the leadership duties at NPBEA, which is based in Reston, Virginia. The NPBEA (www.npbea.org) is a national alliance of major membership organizations committed to the advancement of school and school-system leadership. Its mission is to enhance leadership for the nation’s schools and the preparation of future school leaders. NPBEA’s advocacy involves all seven member organizations and their tens of thousands of members, including school principals, school superintendents, chief state school officers, and leaders of the nation’s advanced leadership preparation programs. “Advancing school leadership for our students and school communities is more important today than ever,” said JoAnn D. Bartoletti, NPBEA Board chair, and Executive Director of the National Association of Secondary School Principals. “We determined this is the right time to put additional resources behind NPBEA’s mission, and there is no one with more experience and commitment to this field than Jackie Wilson.” “The NPBEA and it member organizations have the potential to strengthen leadership in our schools and improve outcomes for all students,” said Dr. Wilson. “I’m excited by this opportunity and look forward to working with our member organizations to help accelerate their agenda.” The NPBEA is currently advocating for adoption of the new Professional Standards for Educational Leadership, a research-based set of standards that are linked to higher learning outcomes for students. Seventeen states have already adopted or incorporated the Standards for their school leaders and many others are expected to do so in the coming months. NPBEA is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation.
