Kevin Fitzgerald, Ed.D.

Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald has spent over forty three years as an educator; thirty as an administrator, thirteen as a teacher and now as a Senior Educational Leadership Specialist for the University of Delaware’s Academy for School Leaders (DASL). Recognized by the National Association of School Superintendents as the 2018-19 National Superintendent of Year, Fitzgerald was superintendent of the Caesar Rodney School District from 2007 -2022. During his tenure the district has been involved in the construction and renovation of fourteen schools; has had six schools recognized with National Blue Ribbons; implemented the first Chinese immersion program in the state; increased and made available to all students advancement placement and world language offerings to all students and has continually graduated students who have been both college and career ready.
A graduate of Frostburg State University (BS) St. John’s College (MA) and the University of Delaware (Ed.D.), Dr. Fitzgerald has also been recognized by the AASA in 2013 and 2020 as the Delaware Superintendent of the Year, the 2019 National Association of Office Professionals Administrator of the Year and in 2002 by the NASSP as Delaware’s Secondary School Principal of the Year. He has also been recognized twice by the University of Delaware with their “Commitment to Education” award and by St. John’s College as an “Alumni of Merit.” Fitzgerald serves as one of Delaware’s representatives to the Education Commission of for the States, was a member of the National Federation of High School’s Board of Directors and of The United Way of Delaware’s Board of Directors, along with a number of other state and community boards. Author of a number of articles, Fitzgerald has written for “High School Today” and “The Administrator” magazines. He also contributed to the book “Best practices of Award Winning Secondary School Principals.” Dr. Fitzgerald and his wife Linda reside in Camden.
